Tiny Aviary Bird of 2012: Dark-eyed Junco
Sorry... not posting the winner yet. I ran out of time this week. But at least I thought you should see the painting. A Dark-eyed Junco was not the first bird I saw New Year's morning. It was a Blue Jay. But I can tell you that little Junco earned its place in 2012 for the Tiny Aviary. Have a lovely weekend, and check back on Monday or Tuesday for the winner, and the junco's story.
Yay for the dark eyed Junco! I never noticed one of these guys until seeing them on the feeder out here in Boston. Such a cute, yet unassuming bird :)
ReplyDeleteAnd what kind of magic are you using to make sure that all of your 1st bird of their year paintings aren't of sparrows?? I swear I see 30 sparrows for every 1 interesting bird ;)
I was so lucky in undergrad to be able to work in a Dark-eyed Junco lab. Definitely one of my favorite every day birds, and I definitely hope to be able to see all of the varieties eventually. Great choice!
ReplyDeleteSomebody's going to be very happy to win that. Really nice piece, Diana.
ReplyDeleteThat's a sweet little bird on a beautiful branch against a wonderful blue snow sky! I hadn't heard of it until reading your blog!Shall keep my fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteYou are the bee's knees and you inspire me to no end.
ReplyDeleteI love our friend the junco! (knock knock . . . knock knock knock).
ReplyDeleteI am ready for the story of Junco. The name alone is a great title, beautiful painting that will give a smile to the winner all year!
